Rodney Baker was born in Newton, NC in October, 1963. He was baptized and
raised at St. John's where he is a lifetime member. Rodney currently
resides in Conover, NC, where he has been most of his life. Mr. Baker has
been in furniture business for twenty one years. He is presently employed
at Dimension Wood Products in Claremont, NC, where he has been for eight
years. One the hobbies he enjoys most is riding his Harley-Davidson.
Rodney played trombone in the Newton-Conover High School band from 1975 to 1981. He
also sang in the Junior and Senior Choirs at St. John's. Rodney played
bass guitar for a number of local bands between 1983 and 1993. Afterwards,
he returned to sing in the senior choir. When the Choir Director position
opened in 2001, Mr. Baker volunteered to lead the group until a replacement
could be found. He was then hired to the position in November 2003.
A few reflections from Rodney Baker:
- Music has always been my passion. Now I get to perform it for the
Lord. This is the most rewarding thing I have ever done. God has
truly blessed me!
