PHILOSOPHY

St. John's Lutheran Church believes God's promise, "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is older he will not depart from it." (Prov. 22:6) and takes very seriously Christ's command to "Go therefore and teach all nations" (Matthew 28:19) and "feed my lambs" (John 21:15). We believe that each person is justified by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that each person is blessed with specific abilities for personal growth and discipleship. St. John's Lutheran Preschool strives to foster in each child an understanding of being a redeemed arid loved child of God. The Preschool, a ministry of the congregation, seeks to assist families in Christian education. All educations Christ-centered!

PURPOSE

St. John's Lutheran Preschool is a childcare center that offers an environment where you’re child can develop at his or her own pace. We strive to meet each child's spiritual, academic, physical, and social/emotional needs with spiritual needs receiving the most emphasis. We strive to achieve this through the staff's love and witness of God's love. The teachings of God's love binds all other aspects of your child's education together in a strong growth process that fosters the values that you wish to see in your child. We the staff want your child's school experience to be positive and loving, one that will create an eagerness and enjoyment of learning.

THE PROGRAM

St. John's Lutheran Preschool is an environment created for young children. Materials are placed on low shelves, are attractively and orderly arranged and well within the child's reach. It is an environment that is conducive to free exploration and hands on learning.

The preschool rooms are arranged in activity areas for art, reading and language development, blocks and building, manipulatives, housekeeping and dramatic play, and science. Music and rhythm, computer, special science, and art classes are also provided.

This type of learning environment has been shown to reduce stress in children, to build self-esteem and independence, to foster curiosity, and to help children develop a joy of learning. These qualities provide the foundation for a healthy sense of self and successful learning later in life.
